  • When people refuse to be comforted they can make mistakes

FLOURISH

The Lime Tree Avenue at Clumber Park, the longest such avenue in Europe almost 2 miles long, planted in about 1840 by the 4th Duke FLOURISH Isaiah 40:31  says: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”. Now when you look at the second part of the scripture above, it sounds like a contradiction. When you RUN, you dissipate energy, you use up your strength and the tendency is that one is weakened or weary. When one walks also the human body may get tired or faint. But there is something about the Spirit of God in the life of a man which makes one defy common logic or common sense.   Job 14: 7-9 says “For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant”. It does not matter if you think your root is waxing old in the earth: Behold the scent of the waters is upon you. You  will spring forth in Jesus name. FLOURISH means to prosper, thrive in growth, to  produce and develop. When circumstances look bleak in the physical, you have to see beyond the dark clouds. You need to SEE and not just LOOK. God is about to do a new thing in your life. It is spring, it's time to blossom, it’s time to flourish. ‘It’s not by power, it’s not by might, but by My Spirit’, says the Lord. Tap into the outpouring of God’s Spirit and you will see your life, vision, calling, family flourish. For you to flourish, you need to arise, so you can shine. Arise out of rejection, failure, depression, pain and regrets. Step forward into the limelight of God’s Spirit and begin to shine unto favour, unto progress, and unto advancement. FLOURISH. Shalom! WHAT DO YOU SEE?

woman-large-binoculars-4717528 WHAT DO YOU SEE? God is set to bring about a newness in your life. The Contemporary English Version of Isaiah 43: 18-19 says “ I am creating something new, there it is, do you see it? I have put roads in deserts, streams in thirsty lands. There it is, there is something new out there but do you see it?”. You may not see it in the physical but it will surely spring forth. I am challenging you to see with your eyes of faith what God is doing in your life. The channel of vision is not limited to the human eyes only. What can you see in your heart, what do you see in your imagination, what is the picture of your dreams? Leonardo Da Vinci said the secret to his creative genius was his ability, 'to know how to see'. In Jeremiah 1:11, the Lord asked the Prophet in a vision,  “What do you see, Jeremiah?” He answered, “A branch of almonds that ripen early.” (Jeremiah 1:11 CEV) The Lord is asking you the same question. Do you see yourself flourishing?, Do you see yourself blossoming? I am declaring into your life that it is spring and it’s time for you to flourish. Many of us are familiar with the spring season; it comes in after the long hard and cold winter, then you see the trees sprouting with new leaves, the flowers blossoming again, and the sunlight streaming in. It is always a refreshing season, a season you gladly welcome after the winter.   We must be able to see this newness, this springing forth, not only with our physical eyes, but with new eyes. We must see with: the eyes of possibility, the eyes of faith, the eyes of love, the eyes that see beyond the obvious, the eyes that see through the heart of God, the eyes that see beyond the visible, the eyes that see what is higher than the highest mountain, the eyes that see the joy embedded in thick misery and sorrow, the eyes that see  new cities emerging from the ruins of a war torn nation and like Ephesians 1:18 says, we must see with the eyes of understanding which enables us to know our calling and purpose in life. Today we must sharpen the eyes of our spirit which cannot be limited by time and space. How do you see yourself? I urge you to see yourself in the fullness of your potential, see yourself soaring high, higher than any limitation. See yourself as God has made you, fearfully and wonderfully, see yourself in the enabling and propelling power of the Glory of God which is risen upon you. See yourself unstoppable by the darkness in the land or the gross darkness upon the people, and see yourself being lifted by the hand of God as His glory is immensely visible upon your life. Today I urge you to see the 'WHO' that you are; see  'WHY' you are here; see 'WHAT'  you are here to do. See the best in yourself and the possibilities of your potential. The entrance of the Word of God brings light and understanding. WHAT DO YOU SEE? Shalom! Busola Jegede

9 STEPS TO BLOSSOMING IN YOUR LIFE.

IMG-20170313-WA0003[1]

9 STEPS TO BLOSSOMING IN YOUR LIFE.

Isaiah 43:19 says “God is set to do a new thing, it will spring forth.

To SPRING  means to rise, leap, move or act suddenly. To spring is to be suddenly released from  a coiled or constrained position. When a new thing is springing forth, it’s like a flower opening or blossoming in springtime. STEP 1. Transform from within. When a plant is springing forth, it starts from within the seed that was planted, then it pushes through the soil and springs forth. There is a transformation from within that seed. Your newness, your change, your strength, starts from within. When you allow the Word of God to bear fruits in your spirit, when you change your thoughts to progressive thoughts and change your confession to align with the Word of God, there will be an outward manifestation of the inward transformation. You must break free from depression, low self-esteem and other limitations of the enemy. TRANSFORMATION FROM WITHIN ATTRACTS EXTERNAL HELP.  STEP 2. Move past your pain. Have you tabernacled at the place of your pain?. In the book of Ruth we see two women who made it back to Israel after suffering losses in their lives. Naomi was able to help position Ruth for Boaz because Naomi MOVED PAST HER PAIN. The loss of her son, Ruth's husband was  left behind and she embraced the future. Actually  Naomi was also a hero of that story and not just Ruth, because she made it happen for Ruth. STEP 3. Cast away negative garments. Mark 10:50  "And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus”.  You need to cast away every cloak of limitation like Blind Bartimaeus did before he received his sight.  You must intentionally remove cloaks of fear, insecurity, self pity, low self-esteem and victim mentality so you can work out the vision that will make you blossom. STEP 4. Find out and walk in your purpose. A life of purpose will keep you busy and focused. It is interesting to note that Rebekah and Rachel at different times in their lives were at their places of assignment. Rebekah was out fetching water when Abraham’s servant who was on assignment to find a wife for Isaac, located her. Likewise, Rachel was out feeding and tending her father's sheep when her suitor (Jacob) met her by the well. Walk in purpose, take your pitcher on your shoulder and go get the water of life for a thirsty soul. What vision has God given you to keep and nurture?, keep it well. YOU GET BUSY FOR GOD AND YOU WILL GET SORTED OUT BY GOD. STEP 5. God does not need a perfect status before he can use you. Romans 8:1. “ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit”.  God used Kathryn Kulman greatly despite her marital status, infact it was when she allowed herself fall for the wrong man that things went very tough for her. Release yourself to the work of God and walls of opposition against you will crumble. STEP 6. Keep hope alive. Prov 13:12 says: “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life”. Psalm 31:24 also says “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord”. You have the responsibility to keep the promises of God alive in your heart until they manifest. STEP 7. Have a nice disposition to people. Nice people attract others.  Proverbs 18:24 says “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother”. What do people find in you? Prov 18:22 says “Whoso FINDETH a wife FINDETH a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord”. Prov 31:10 says “Who can FIND a virtuous woman....? It is what you make of yourself that people will find in you. STEP  8. Engage in spiritual warfare regularly. Isaiah 62: 6-7 says “I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth”. You must pray through and without ceasing for your life to blossom. Shalom! Busola Jegede.

THE PASTOR/MINISTER’S WIFE (A must read for Pastors and their wives)

pastor-and-wife THE PASTOR/MINISTER’S WIFE Women have a tremendous role to play in supporting the careers of their husbands. This is a very visible role that can be seen in most countries of the world; with every President, there is a First lady who is usually instantly in the limelight as soon as her husband assumes office. The main discourse here is that of the Pastor/Minister’s Wife. Specifically, the focus is on how the Pastor or Minister relates to his wife privately and publicly. Some women who find themselves in this role probably did not or were not prepared for the demands of being a mother to many; a counsellor and a role model. Whilst many women have been thoroughly prepared for this role over time due to their spiritual maturity and training they received over the years, it is very important for the minister to take time to prepare his wife for the demands of the capacity that is required of her. Usually, the demands of ministry are so enormous and the minister is so engrossed that he may unknowingly neglect being a husband and a father. The role of the Pastor or Minister’s Wife is an extremely important one. She is expected to be a supporter of her husband’s vision, she is to be his personal intercessor, a role model to the women and youths, a counsellor and an encourager. A minister’s wife is not to be noted just for POWER DRESSING. Though she should look nice, she should be a SPIRIT FILLED WOMAN. She must of necessity show the people care, visit them and attend to the needs of the church members as a major support of her husband’s ministry. Yet she must be a keeper at home, keeping the home front, attending to the children whilst her husband is busy in ministry. Yes, a woman is expected to be a supporter, intercessor, builder of the home and all you can think of but many Pastors/Ministers need to take the issue of nurturing their wives seriously so they can have their full support. A Pastor/Minister must bring up his wife spiritually and teach her so she can be an asset to the ministry that he is building. If the Pastor or Minister is so vast in knowledge or deeply spiritual and the wife is a spiritual babe, it will create a lot of tension. If there is a spiritual disconnect, there is bound to be friction and there may be a need to bring in someone to assume the role of leadership especially for the women in the church. It is also important for the Pastor/Minister to manage his relationship with female leaders or members of his church who are more spiritually mature than his wife. He must affirm his wife so that she does not feel insecure and help her develop confidence, otherwise she may be spiritually bullied or intimidated by some of these women who may go out of line. The Pastor/Minister’s wife must of a necessity be respectful to people, older and younger than she is. She should believe in herself and not feel inferior or insecure. It is important that she does not misuse her privileged position or deal harshly with people. If a Pastor/Minister is finding it difficult to teach his wife personally due to any reason(s), then he should prayerfully seek out a Female spiritual mentor and attach his wife to her. Titus 2:3-5, says “let the older women teach the younger ones”. Another issue that Pastors or Ministers should bear in mind is the need to deal with their wives with patience just like they deal with their congregation. Do not be impatient with your wife, do not be uncaring towards your wife or show other women that you have a low opinion of your wife. Women are extremely territorial and any signal you give negatively about your wife will be used against her by other women in the church. Avoid making condescending statements about your wife while preaching. You must guard against careless statements about your wife, as people can read between the lines. Once, a Pastor came to report his wife to me because she attended our Interdenominational Fellowship. He complained that she was not supportive of his call to start a church and that he is convinced that she probably is not born again in the first place. The picture he painted to me portrayed the woman as the devil, frustrating and limiting his call to ministry. So, I got the wife’s phone number and called her to see me because I did not know her personally due to the large number of women in our fellowship. When she came to see me I could see she was about 8 months pregnant, she looked gaunt, malnourished and unkempt. When I inquired from her why she was not supporting her husband, she broke down and I could see that this woman was weary physically and emotionally. She narrated how they had tried to start ministry (church) once or twice before but it failed; the family had no income, she had a baby less than two years ago and the hospital bill had not been fully paid and here she was with another baby due and not one diaper had been bought in readiness for the baby’s arrival. Worse still, she did not know which hospital she would deliver in as she had not been registered anywhere yet. So with all these ongoing, her husband would call her to lead praise and worship in the church he just started in their sitting room. She said sometimes she would be too tired and would refuse to come out of the bedroom while the “service” was going on. Now how do you reconcile this?; a Pastor burning with zeal and vision yet very poor in managing his family. I had to call the Pastor back and counsel him and my specific words were, “Pastor, you are an Elijah or even John the Baptist but these men never got married. How can you expect a pregnant woman to fast and believe God for miraculous provision towards the delivery of her baby, considering that she’s 8 months pregnant. Her faith cannot carry the burden on her body, Sir”. When I asked him about his plans for the baby he said, “ I am believing God for divine intervention”. Clearly, this man did not think he should have made alternative arrangements to provide both antenatal and maternal care. He was expecting Manna from heaven, when he should have made definite moves to provide for his family: Faith without works is dead, James 2:14. Though this may not be the case in your situation if you are a Pastor, you should deal with your wife as the Word of God says in 1 Peter 3:7. Honour her and make it a public honour, not just private. If on the flipside, you are married to a woman who is demanding or likes to usurp authority, deeply intercede for her and counsel her or attach her to a Female spiritual mentor. To the Pastor/Minister’s wife, who may be getting negative feedback concerning her character or personality, avoid the trap of being defensive or thinking no one has your back. Genuinely seek the help of the Holy Spirit to reveal to you your attitudinal weaknesses and challenges. Pray for grace to overcome them, make sincere moves to improve yourself, get rid of excesses in your life and walk in love. To the Pastor/Minister’s wife out there, may God grace you to do all He has purposed for you to do and may your husband’s heart safely trust in you in Jesus name. For every Pastor/Minister, remember that you are the Spiritual cover and Mentor for the whole Sheep under your care, including your wife. So, be patient, loving and intentionally protective of her. As you bring this honour on her, your marriage is protected and she will defend and support your vision.   Shalom, Busola Jegede

EAT AND LIVE.

img-20170223-wa00181 The Story of the Widow of Zarephath and the Prophet in 1 kings 17:2-24 is a popular one. One remarkable lesson is that of Obedience on both the path of the Prophet to go to Zarephath and Obedience of the Widow to meet Elijah’s needs. The brook dried up though the Prophet had been directed to the brook by the Spirit of God and the ravens had been feeding him. This is a pointer to the fact that we must be constantly listening to God’s voice as our instructions may change, though God never changes. This year some of you need to be sensitive as your instructions will change. There may be people out there who are operating in dried up brooks, who are complaining that their Country is not working, though God told you to RELOCATE to said Country. As many complaining that the business or vision God told them to start is no longer working, listen; the brook has dried up, you need to HEAR WHAT GOD is saying now. When Elijah asked the widow for water she promptly obeyed and proceeded to get the water. As she was going the Prophet asked her to bring a piece of bread. At that point the widow objected and said she only had a little. The Prophet encouraged her to bring him some food first from her meagre resources. If the widow had given just the water, it would have made the barrel of flour and cruze of oil to run dry. The larger your sacrifice, the larger your reward. When Elijah got to Zarephath he met a widow who was gathering sticks to take home and make a meal for herself and her son so they may eat and die. Typically, when we eat, the food is supposed to nourish our bodies and make us lively. But in the case of the Widow of Zarephath she was about to prepare her last meal before dying. Infact she was gathering sticks, BUSY BUT NOT FRUITFUL, BUSY UNTO DESTRUCTION.   Are you in such a situation of toiling where though you are hardworking, yet you never expect a good outcome?, Are you gathering sticks to prepare a final meal? With Jesus, you EAT TO LIVE and NOT TO DIE. As John 6:57 declares, “As the Living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me”. As you eat the LIVING WORD, THE BREAD OF LIFE you will live. Shalom Busola Jegede
